Stone Age after the Stone Age: Findings from the Ochsenhardt in Bavaria
This is a rough out of an early Bronze Age dagger from the large Bavarian workshop site “Ochsenhardt”.
Here the so called “Plattensilex” was used in large quantities for the production of daggers. This raw material was used in this region since the Middle Paleolithic, but got more important during the Neolithic and early Bronze age.
Anyhow it remains unclear if the production of daggers was performed by specialists or if such activities were part of a “domestic” production of people who lived and worked in the Neighbourhood.
