Levallois Points from the Perigord Noir
These are Levallois Points from the Middle Paleolithic (MIS 5-3) of the Dordogne, displaying several variants of a common blank-type, which is known in Europe since MIS 8. These examples comprise retouched and unretouched pieces with different butts (faceted and punctiform) that have been found in the Vezere Valley, the Beune Valley, at the multilayered site of La Rochette and near the famous grotte de Rouffignac.
